Social Stories - Personal Safety

These social stories are designed to be enlarged on a copier and made into booklets, with one image per page.  Feel free to customize them for your own child's needs.

  • A Stranger is Someone I Don't Know

This social story explains what a stranger is and how to stay safe.  Click here to download the PDF.

Also read: Staying Safe around Strangers with your child.  This children's book does a better job of explaining what is a "trusted adult."

  • It's Not Okay to Hurt Me

This social story helps a child learn how to protect himself and report when he is hurt by someone.

  • What Are Private Parts?

This social story explains what private parts are in a simple way. It depicts drawings of male and female anatomy.

I also used Barbie and Ken dolls to explain this to my son.

Please use this tool with sensitivity.

  • Good Touches and Bad Touches

This social story explains what touches are okay and which are not, and how to report bad touches. Be sure your child understands what private parts are first by teaching him with this other social story.

Also read: I said NO! A kid's guide to keeping your private parts private.
